Support for Parents and Carers of Autistic and Neurodivergent Children

Parenting a neurodivergent child can bring moments of joy, discovery and pride, alongside questions, uncertainty and challenges. At Thriving Beyond the Label, we provide a supportive community where parents and carers of autistic and neurodivergent children can connect, learn and access practical guidance.

Supporting Parents of Autistic and Neurodivergent Children

Understanding, Encouragement and Practical Guidance

Supporting children with autism and other neurodivergent profiles requires patience, understanding and access to the right information.

Our approach focuses on helping families understand:

  • Their child’s individual strengths
  • Different communication styles
  • Sensory needs
  • Emotional regulation
  • Learning preferences
  • Ways to encourage confidence and independence

We provide autism advice for parents based on lived experience, community knowledge and professional collaboration.

Support for Different Neurodivergent Profiles

We support parents and carers of children with a range of neurodivergent profiles, including:

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Dyslexia
  • Dyspraxia
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Developmental differences
  • Social communication differences
  • Learning disabilities
  • Other SEND needs

Our support is strengths-based and recognises that every child has unique abilities, interests and ways of experiencing the world.

A Moment for Carers

At Thriving Beyond the Label, we believe that supporting a child begins with supporting the people who care for them.

Parents and carers often dedicate so much time and energy to their children’s needs that their own wellbeing can become overlooked.

Through our “A Moment” initiative, we aim to give carers an opportunity to pause, rest and recharge.

For the next 12 months, at least one carer will be gifted a moment of care each month.

This may include:

  • A relaxing pampering session
  • A meal out
  • A wellbeing experience
  • Time to rest and recharge in a way that feels meaningful to them
